It is to be found in woody areas not far from the sea.

Its trunk is slim and clearly ringed. It has green leaves with light green undersides and white flowers. It bears reddish fruit.

It is happy in rich, well-drained, humid soil. Should the ground be very alkaline microelements are to be added.

Grows rapidly. In areas with a dry climate it will be better off in semi shade in a place out of the wind. It is ideal as a patio plant.
