This is a very med palm which does not usually grow over one and a half or two metres in height. It is found in humid undergrowth up to an altitude of 1400 m.

Like most Chamaedoreas it is an excellent house plant as it does not require much humidity or light to thrive.

This species is the one most used inside so with this in mind millions of its seeds are sold annually worldwide.

It prefers well drained soils rich in organic matter.

It has only one trunk, but is normally bought at nurseries planted in groups of 10 or 12 in each pot.
